Job summary

Volvo Trucks is seeking a Technician Supervisor in Wilstead, Bedford to lead our expert team and ensure high quality workmanship. You will coordinate workloads, mentor technicians and liaise with service advisors to meet customer expectations across the Volvo Genuine Service process.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, strong leadership and communication skills, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
  • Workshop experience in trucks/buses with supervisory know-how.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Organised, proactive and customer focused.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
  • Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
  • Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
  • Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
  • Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
  • Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
  • Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
  • Support technician training, development and performance.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records are completed accurately.
  • Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused workshop environment.

Are you an experienced automotive technician with leadership skills, ready to take the next step in your career? Volvo Trucks is seeking a motivated Technician Supervisor to lead our expert team in Wilstead, Bedford. Ready to take a step up in your role? Working closely with the team to create high levels of morale and focus to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and with excellence in quality. Effective communication with the Workshop Controller and CSR's to ensure that technicians have valid job specifications and time budget prior to work commencing. Ensuring that customer expectations are always managed by working with each stage of the Genuine Volvo Service process.,

  • Workshop experience - ideally in trucks/buses - with some supervisory know-how.
  • A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
  • Organised, proactive, and customer focused.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus)
  • To be able to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily activities
  • To be able to effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally
  • To be able to work in an organised & methodical manner ensuring that all daily tasks are completed
  • To be able to delegate work to the appropriate personnel
  • To be able to operate GDS and Impact systems, specific to the GVS process stages
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook

We also value transferable expertise from allied industries; candidates with backgrounds as a PSV Technician, PCV Mechanic, Bus and Coach Technician, or a Heavy Plant Mechanic / Plant Technician are strongly encouraged to apply, as full product training on our modern fleet will be provided.
