Volvo Group in Bedford is seeking a Light Vehicle Mechanic to train up to HGV through a fully funded 6-month programme at our Wilstead training facility. You’ll gain hands-on experience in our workshops while earning a £1,000 signing bonus after six months of service.

During training you’ll be paid up to £19 per hour and will complete the IMI Level 3 Certificate in HGV Maintenance & Repair. After completion, a clear pathway to a long-term Volvo Group career awaits.

Formación

• City and Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent.
• Light vehicle experience - proven work on cars, vans, plant or motorbikes.
• IT literate; able to demonstrate knowledge as LGV/Vehicle/Plant mechanic.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out inspections, MOT prep, diagnostic work and fault finding.
• Perform repairs on engines, gearboxes, brakes and suspension on trucks and buses.
• Learn to use Volvo in-house systems and complete job cards and service sheets.
• Work to Volvo Service Times with on-the-job mentoring.

If you're an experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic, this is your opportunity to transition into a rewarding career as an HGV Technician with our fully funded 6-month training Programme.

You'll gain hands-on experience in our workshops while receiving expert tuition at our dedicated in-house training facility. Throughout the Programme, you'll spend one week each month at our training centre, with all travel and accommodation expenses fully paid

Shift pattern is Monday to Friday 0600hrs - 1430hrs / 1430hrs - 2300hrs with alternative Saturday morning paid at overtime, time and a half. (other overtime available)

• City and Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent, in Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance
• Light vehicle experience - proven work experience on cars, vans, plant or motorbikes.
• IT literate.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience as a LGV Technician/Vehicle Technician/Plant Mechanics

If you have previously worked as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician, your skills are highly relevant to this role. We also value transferable expertise from allied industries; candidates with backgrounds as a PSV Technician, PCV Mechanic, Bus and Coach Technician, or a Heavy Plant Mechanic / Plant Technician are strongly encouraged to apply, as full product training on our modern fleet will be provided.

About the role

Your role will involve carrying out inspections, MOT preparation, diagnostic work and fault finding, carrying out repairs on engines, gearboxes, brakes and suspension systems on trucks and buses. You will also learn to use Volvo's in-house systems and complete paperwork such as job cards and service sheets. We will help and support you to learn to work to Volvo Service Times.
