Job summary

Serco Limited is recruiting an Electrical Biased Technician to join the Estates team at Wishaw General Hospital. You’ll help keep essential hospital services running safely and smoothly while maintaining, repairing, and improving critical electrical systems.

You’ll provide specialist electrical advice, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, testing, calibration, and documentation, and support apprentices in a fast‑paced environment with strict safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical trade qualification and experience working as an Electrician in a complex building environment.
  • Strong fault‑finding skills with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise competing demands.
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations including BS7671 and safe systems of work.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems, medical gases, HVAC systems, or similar (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist electrical advice and support to estates colleagues and contractors.
  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on plant, equipment, and building infrastructure.
  • Undertake fault‑finding, testing, inspection, and diagnosis across complex electrical systems and equipment.
  • Complete installation, repair, calibration, and validation tasks in line with relevant regulations and guidance.
  • Use calibrated test equipment to ensure safe operation of wiring systems, emergency generators, and critical systems.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota to provide emergency out‑of‑hours response.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, test certificates, and reports.
  • Support and guide apprentices and maintenance assistants when required.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving critical electrical systems that support a healthier, safer future for the community.

What you’ll do as a Technician

  • Provide specialist electrical advice and support to estates colleagues and contractors
