Job summary

Serco Limited in Dumfries is seeking a Maintenance Assurance Manager to lead the planning, assurance and delivery of critical estates maintenance services across a busy hospital environment. The role is permanent and full-time with a salary up to £42,000 per annum and comprehensive benefits.

This position requires expertise in hard facilities management, regulatory compliance and asset management, with the ability to analyse data and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading hard facilities maintenance in healthcare or PFI environments.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and asset management principles.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and produce detailed reports.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or knowledge of NHS SHTM/HBN is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day planning and management of building fabric and M&E maintenance across the hospital estate.
  • Ensure all statutory, mandatory and contractual maintenance obligations are met and evidenced.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, contractual relationships and renewal activities.
  • Oversee Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) scheduling, reporting and asset maintenance programmes.
  • Support environmental and estate condition audits, identifying future maintenance needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop contingency plans, minimise disruption and drive continuous improvement across maintenance activities.

As a Maintenance Assurance Manager in our Serco Health team, you'll lead the planning, assurance and delivery of critical estates maintenance services across a busy acute hospital environment. You'll ensure statutory compliance, drive high standards of service delivery and help maintain safe, reliable facilities that support exceptional patient care.

What you’ll do as a Maintenance Assurance Manager
  • Lead the day-to-day planning and management of building fabric and mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance services across the hospital estate.
  • Ensure all statutory, mandatory and contractual maintenance obligations are achieved and evidenced.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, contractual relationships and renewal activities to support service excellence.
  • Oversee Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) scheduling, reporting and asset maintenance programmes.
  • Support environmental and estate condition audits, identifying future maintenance requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop contingency plans, minimise operational disruption and drive continuous improvement across maintenance activities.
Does this sound like you?
  • Experience leading hard facilities management maintenance services, ideally within a healthcare or Private Finance Initiative (PFI) environment.
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance, planned preventative maintenance and asset management principles.
  • Ability to analyse complex operational data, produce detailed reports and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Degree qualified, equivalent professional qualification, or substantial experience within a hard facilities management environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification and knowledge of NHS Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and Health Building Notes (HBN) would be advantageous.
