Job summary

d3t Studio is seeking a Technical UI Designer to help redefine UI/UX experiences across platforms in a technical art focused role. This 12-month fixed-term contract offers hybrid working across our UK sites (Daresbury or Newcastle) with 3 studio days per week.

You will collaborate across teams to implement UI features and build tools for efficiency. Ideal candidates will have game-engine experience, a track record of AAA-quality UI polish, and proficiency with scripting or visual scripting in

Qualifications

• Professional game development experience with game engines.
• Implemented UI screens, widgets, and data flows with other disciplines.
• Experience prototyping concepts from start to finish with ownership.
• Experience polishing features to AAA quality and maintaining them.

Responsibilities

• Structure, plan, estimate, and implement features aligning with goals, accessibility, and standards.
• Work with engineers, scripters, UX designers, and UI artists on UI features (2D/3D layouts, menus, animations, AR, HUDs).
• Use Python, JavaScript, or C++ or visual scripting (Unreal/Unity) to implement UI logic.
• Improve implementation based on feedback and direction.
• Ensure interfaces scale across platforms and screen resolutions, with smooth performance.
• Build tools and workflows for UI artists.
• Create UI shaders for effects like health bars and holographic HUDs.
• Report to technical directors and project managers.
• Have attention to detail and collaborative attitude.
• Problem solving mentality to debug systems.
