Job summary

d3t ltd. is seeking a Senior Technical Artist for a 12-month fixed-term contract, based in the UK at either Daresbury or Newcastle with a hybrid work pattern. The role blends technical art and tooling, supporting art pipelines and performance optimization across environments, characters, VFX and animation.

You will lead, mentor and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, performant assets within project schedules and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Enjoy the technical challenge of real-time game art and understand rendering, shading and lighting techniques.
• Must be performance and quality focused.
• Excellent knowledge of Maya and/or 3DS Max and Python.
• Strong communication and organisation within a multidisciplinary art team.
• Proven leadership or mentoring in an art role.
• Understanding of a modern PBR workflow and materials/shaders.
• Knowledge of current console hardware limitations.
• Problem-solving with a practical, methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain project art pipelines from inception through lifecycle.
• Support art and animation teams and resolve technical issues.
• Create and integrate in-house toolsets; develop materials and shaders.
• Ensure artwork meets memory and frame rate constraints via profiling.
• Collaborate with artists to optimize asset performance without sacrificing fidelity.
• Own specific features when needed and guide task prioritisation in Jira.
• Maintain naming conventions and texture layering standards.
• Keep up-to-date with industry tech and share knowledge with the team.
• Contribute tutorials, docs and guides to improve art pipeline efficiency.
