Job summary

Go Fractional is seeking a Technical UI Designer for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in the UK (Daresbury or Newcastle). You will collaborate with engineers, scripters, UX designers and UI artists to implement 2D/3D layouts, menus, animations and HUDs across platforms.

Applicants should bring 3+ years in game UI, experience delivering AA/AAA quality features, and comfort with Unity/Unreal UI or similar toolchains. Hybrid working and no-crunch ethos are emphasized.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional game development experience working with game engines.
• Implemented UI screens, widgets, logic, and data flows in collaboration with other game disciplines.
• Experience in rapid prototyping to test the feasibility of concepts, taking an idea from start to finish with full ownership.
• Experience polishing features to AAA quality and maintaining them throughout the production cycle, promoting best practices.
• Experience with other UI systems such as Unity UI, Unreal UI, ImGui, WPF, or Qt would be a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Structure, plan, estimate, and implement features aligning with game goals, accessibility, and technical standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, scripters, UX designers, and UI artists to implement UI features (2D/3D layouts, menus, animations, HUDs).
• Use Python, JavaScript, C++, or visual scripting (Unreal Blueprints, Unity) to implement UI logic.
• Improve implementation based on feedback, design requirements, art, and direction.
• Ensure interfaces scale across platforms and perform without frame drops.
• Build tools and workflows for other UI artists; write UI shaders for effects.
