**Job Title:** Technical Support Specialist (Electrical Bias)

**Location:** Poole, Dorset

**Salary:** Depending on experience

**Job type:** Full Time, Permanent

**Reports To:** Controls Manager

About the Role

Help the people who install and maintain systems that save lives. If you're an electrically qualified professional ready to move beyond site work, this role is for you. Support systems in the field, solve problems quickly, and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the go-to expert for technical queries via phone, email, remote login, and CRM.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, controls, and systems, especially in smoke ventilation, BMS, or fire safety installations.
  • Translate complex issues into clear, practical guidance for installers and end-users.
  • Support field engineers with backup, guidance, or verification.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate for engineering or product review.
  • Contribute to product design and future features based on insights.
  • Build internal knowledge bases and contribute to training resources.
  • Maintain meticulous records of issues, fixes, and escalations.
Requirements
Essential
  • Proven experience in technical support, helpdesk, or remote engineering roles.
  • Strong IT, systems, and fault-finding knowledge (hardware/software).
  • Excellent communication skills, calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote access tools, and CRMs.
  • Electrical competence, ability to read wiring schematics and system layouts.
Preferred
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience with smoke control, HVAC, fire safety systems, or BMS.
  • Background in installation, commissioning, or service.
  • Knowledge of PAT, RAMS, and compliance standards.
