Job Title: Technical Support Specialist (Electrical Bias)

Location: Poole, Dorset

Salary: Depending on experience

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

Reports To: Controls Manager

  • You're an electrically qualified professional ready to move beyond site work.
  • You have supported systems in the field and now want to use your knowledge more than your physical effort.
  • You take pride in solving problems quickly and explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical people.
  • You understand that your work matters, especially when it concerns life safety.

What You'll Do

Technical Support:
  • Be the go-to expert for technical queries via phone, email, remote login, and CRM.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, controls, and systems, especially in smoke ventilation, BMS, or fire safety installations.
  • Translate complex issues into clear, practical guidance for installers and end-users.
  • Support field engineers with backup, guidance, or verification when needed.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate them for engineering or product review.
  • Your insights will influence product design and future features.
  • Contribute to building internal knowledge bases, training, and tools.
  • Maintain meticulous records of issues, fixes, and escalations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in technical support, helpdesk, or remote engineering roles.
  • Strong IT, systems, and fault-finding knowledge (hardware/software).
  • Effective communication skills: calm under pressure and clear under stress.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote access tools, and CRM platforms.
  • Electrical competence: ability to read wiring schematics and system layouts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience with smoke control, HVAC, fire safety systems, or BMS.
  • Background in installation, commissioning, or service.
  • Knowledge of PAT, RAMS, and compliance requirements.
