Job description

Field Sales Engineer - Control Valves - Power & Process

UK North / Midlands - Field Based

£50,000-£60,000 Basic + Commission/Bonus + Car/Allowance + Benefits

Are you an experienced Control Valve Sales Engineer looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence growth, develop your own territory and work with customers on technically interesting applications rather than simply selling from a catalogue?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established UK specialist within the control valve, flow-control and process equipment market.

The business represents respected manufacturers and supplies engineered valve and flow-control solutions into demanding industrial environments across the United Kingdom. Following continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Field Sales Engineer who understands the control valve market and knows how to turn technical conversations into long-term business.

This is a genuine territory-development and business-growth role. You will inherit existing customer relationships and opportunities, but there is significant scope to develop new accounts, increase market share and build your own portfolio.

The Role

Working predominantly across the North of England and Midlands, you will sell technically led control valve solutions into power, process and industrial applications.

You will engage directly with engineers, maintenance teams, project personnel, procurement departments, contractors and other technical decision-makers, understanding their application before recommending the most appropriate valve solution.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and developing an established portfolio of customers.
  • Identifying and winning new business across the territory.
  • Selling control valves, actuated valve packages and associated flow-control solutions.
  • Developing opportunities within power generation, process industries and other industrial applications.
  • Working closely with customers to understand pressure, temperature, flow, media and application requirements.
  • Producing quotations and developing commercially and technically appropriate solutions.
  • Managing opportunities from initial enquiry through specification, quotation, negotiation and order.
  • Building relationships with end users, EPCs, contractors, OEMs, resellers and service organisations.
  • Working closely with valve manufacturers, suppliers and internal technical teams.
  • Developing a strong project and opportunity pipeline.
  • Attending customer sites, exhibitions, supplier meetings and industry events.
What We Are Looking For

For this position, control valve experience is essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have recent or extensive experience selling control valves and engineered valve solutions within power and/or process industries.

You may currently be working as a:

  • Field Sales Engineer
  • Sales Engineer
  • Area Sales Manager
  • Business Development Manager
  • Technical Sales Engineer
  • Valve Sales Engineer
  • Control Valve Specialist

You should be comfortable discussing control valve applications with experienced engineers and understanding customer requirements beyond simply price and product availability.

Experience involving areas such as the following would be particularly relevant:
  • Control Valves
  • Actuated Valves
  • Severe Service Valves
  • Steam Applications
  • Pressure & Flow Control
  • Process Control
  • Valve Automation
  • Instrumentation
  • Power Generation
  • Energy - Chemical
  • Petrochemical
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food & Beverage
  • Process Manufacturing

Just as importantly, you will be commercially driven, comfortable developing new accounts and capable of building credible long-term relationships with technical customers.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This isn't simply an account-management position.

You will have the freedom to develop a territory, open new markets and directly influence the growth of the business, while representing established manufacturers and providing genuine, engineered solutions to customers.

The company offers:
  • £50,000-£60,000 basic salary.
  • Attractive commission/bonus opportunity.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Company pension.
  • Phone and laptop.
  • Manufacturer and product training.
  • Established customer relationships and supplier partnerships.
  • Significant scope to grow your territory and earnings.
  • A business where an experienced salesperson can genuinely make an impact.
