Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Technical Policy Advisor in Birmingham to support the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) and low carbon fuels policy. You will translate technical evidence into clear advice for Ministers and policy makers, helping to decarbonise transport and drive the UK's Net Zero objectives.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of DfT positions and policy on often complex technical issues facing the RTFO such as eligible low carbon fuels and feedstocks, sustainability issues or carbon accounting.
• Input to high-quality advice and briefing to Ministers, including by building on the evidence base.
• Drafting technical content, such as consultation or response documents.
• Work closely with the Low Carbon Fuels’ Delivery Unit to ensure that the RTFO is implemented in line with government policy.
• Work in partnership with modal, strategy, legal, analytical, commercial and corporate finance teams.
• Engaging with stakeholders in industry and other government departments.
