Job summary

RES-Distribution Ltd. is seeking a Field Based Technical Sales Engineer to survey sites, specify systems and produce quotations for East England projects. You will commission Air Source Heat Pump systems, hand over projects and resolve technical issues with installers and homeowners.

The role requires heat pump design knowledge, MCS compliance experience and a consultative approach to explain complex data to customers. Travel across the East of England is expected.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent
• Heat Pumps: LCL/BPEC Design & Installation
• G3 Unvented Hot Water, WRAS, and MCS standards knowledge
• Proven experience with low-temperature hydraulic design and electrical fault-finding
• Consultative ability to translate technical data for non-technical customers

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical site surveys and agree system specifications with installers/homeowners, produce on-site quotations, commission heat pump systems and handle handovers.
• Create room-by-room heat loss calculations and system designs using company tools, compile technical proposals for the sales team and maintain CRM records.
• Act as Nominated Technical Supervisor for regional MCS projects, ensuring subcontracted installations meet Building Regulations.
• Provide phone-based and remote technical support while maintaining relations with installers.

As a Field Based Technical Sales Engineer you’ll be responsible for:

• Conducting technical site surveys, agreeing system specifications with installers and homeowners, producing on-site quotations, commissioning Air Source Heat Pump systems, completing system handovers, and resolving technical issues through remedial visits.

• Produce room-by-room heat loss calculations, system designs and performance assessments using company design tools and established processes, with full training and technical support provided. Compile technical proposals and quotations for the sales team, ensuring accurate project records are maintained within the CRM system.

• Acting as the Nominated Technical Supervisor for all regional MCS projects, ensuring every subcontracted installation adheres to MCS standards and Building Regulations.

• Providing phone-based and remote technical support, maintaining strong working relationships with assigned installers, and acting as a consistent technical point of contact.

This is a full-time, permanent, field based role working 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8am - 5pm.

• Plumbing & Heating: Level 3 NVQ or equivalent.

• Heat Pumps: LCL/BPEC Heat Pump Design & Installation.

• Compliance: G3 Unvented Hot Water, WRAS, and a comprehensive knowledge of MCS standards.

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in low-temperature hydraulic design and electrical fault-finding.

• Soft Skills: A "consultative" mindset with the ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for non-technical customers.

• Logistics: Based in/around East London or Ipswich, with a willingness to travel and occasional overnight stays.
