Job description

Sitting within our Business Support Team, the Technical Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of our ecommerce platforms, functionality and customer journeys.

The role will have a strong focus on business process mapping and hands‑on testing. You’ll work with teams across the business to understand and document how processes work, identify opportunities for improvement and translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.

You’ll take ownership of creating and maintaining end‑to‑end process maps, making sure they remain accurate as our processes and technology evolve. You’ll also be hands‑on with functional, integration and regression testing, making sure new ecommerce functionality works as expected and meets the agreed requirements before it goes live.

Working alongside our Lead Business Systems Analyst, you’ll help understand how ecommerce changes connect with our wider systems, integrations and data. You’ll be involved throughout the change lifecycle – from understanding the requirement and mapping the process through to testing, UAT and implementation.

Business Analysis & Requirements
  • Work with teams across the business to understand ecommerce needs, challenges and customer journeys, turning these into clear functional and technical requirements.
  • Gather, challenge and document requirements, creating user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation that clearly define what needs to be delivered.
  • Assess how proposed changes could impact customers, internal teams, existing processes and functionality, identifying risks, dependencies and gaps early.
  • Help take requirements from initial idea through to delivery, making sure the original business need isn't lost along the way.
Process Mapping & Improvement
  • Create, document and maintain end‑to‑end business process maps, covering current‑state (as‑is) and future‑state (to‑be) processes.
  • Work with teams to understand how processes operate in practice, including key steps, decisions, systems and hand‑offs.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, manual work and opportunities for improvement, helping shape practical solutions.
  • Take ownership of keeping process maps and supporting documentation accurate and up to date as processes, technology and ways of working change.
Ecommerce & Technical Testing
  • Take a hands‑on role in testing new ecommerce and website functionality, making sure it meets agreed requirements and works as expected before release.
  • Create and carry out functional, integration, end‑to‑end and regression testing, covering expected journeys as well as edge cases and scenarios where things may go wrong.
  • Test key ecommerce journeys including customer accounts, products, basket, checkout, payments, promotions, subscriptions and orders.
  • Investigate and reproduce defects, clearly document what has happened and retest fixes through to resolution.
  • Support integration and API testing using tools such as Postman, validating that integrations and data are behaving as expected.
  • Work alongside the Lead Business Systems Analyst where ecommerce changes interact with wider systems, integrations or data.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and third parties to make sure requirements are understood and changes are properly tested and ready for go‑live.
  • Support implementation and post‑launch checks, making sure any issues are identified quickly and relevant process maps and documentation are updated following the change.
Skills and experience
  • Experience in a Technical Business Analyst or similar role, ideally within ecommerce or a transactional environment.
  • Strong process mapping skills, with experience creating, documenting and maintaining clear end‑to‑end business processes.
  • Able to turn business needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Hands‑on experience of functional, integration and regression testing, including creating test scenarios, identifying issues and retesting fixes.
  • A good understanding of ecommerce platforms, customer journeys, integrations, APIs and data flows, with experience of tools such as Postman.
  • A natural problem solver and clear communicator, comfortable getting into the detail, working with different teams and taking ownership through to delivery.
Person Profile
  • Curious and analytical – enjoys understanding how things work, asking the right questions and getting into the detail.
  • A practical problem solver – able to spot gaps, investigate issues and find solutions that work for both the customer and the business.
  • Clear and collaborative – communicates well with technical and non‑technical teams and builds good working relationships.
  • Organised and accountable – takes ownership, manages priorities well and sees work through from initial requirement to go‑live.
