Technical Administrator 6 month contract 37 hours per week based in Barrow-in-Furness, Inside IR35, £13.45 per hour

A Technical Administrator is required to work for BAE Systems in an exciting role within their Submarines Sector. The jobholder will be required to administer data by prioritising, producing, maintaining documentation and other correspondence. You will typically have experience working in a clerical/administration environment.

About the team
  • You will be supporting the Primary Build Organisation & extended teams, working with and supporting all the different Stakeholder Groups, within the PBO this includes the Trade Org and extended teams included within the Primary Build Organisation
  • In addition, you will be supporting cross functional work streams to support Stakeholders within the wider Primary Build Organisation, including interacting with the Trade Org, Fuelling Team, Projects & Planning, Facilities Management Team and Security team amongst others external to the PBO.
  • Part of the role will also encompass involvement with supporting Conditions Management Inspections, for the Facilities and onboard the vessels, therefore there may be a requirement for you to be supportive of these inspections in a confined space or at height (embarking/disembarking on a ladder onboard the vessel.
Duties will involve
  • Undertaking a range of clerical and administrative duties within a department to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Processing documents and information received from a range of sources and managing the data within company systems.
  • Collating and extracting data and producing routine reports, schedules, summaries and letters for internal circulation or for customers and suppliers.
  • Identifying and undertaking initial investigation into discrepancies and shortages relating to products or services, this could involve statistical information, document control or physical stock control.
  • Dealing with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers and exchange information in order to clarify a situation, e.g. placing orders, arranging appointments, deliveries, etc.
  • Obtaining and verifying data including carrying out checks and obtaining authorisation for finalising documents.
  • Maintenance and storage of technical documentation, keeping filing systems up-to-date to ensure traceability so that information can be readily retrieved.
  • Having a clear understanding of Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) requirements within the workplace and proactively facilitate any health and safety actions in support of a compliant office environment.
  • Having a clear understanding of relevant document management systems ensuring that all quality standards are met.
Knowledge
  • Some experience of providing an administrative service.
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with teams, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of how to deal with Confidential Information and how to store appropriately.
  • Basic knowledge of a range of work routines, procedures and systems across a discipline.
  • An understanding of how the function collectively works together in order to meet its objectives and the key Stakeholders involved.

You will hold an apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2 (National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)) or equivalent with a good standard of general education. You will ensure and maintain confidentiality of information and data at all times.
