Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is hiring a Technology Support Apprentice to join the Digital, Data and Technology team on a full-time, 2-year fixed-term contract. You will support staff, set up devices, and manage IT requests while working towards the Level 3 ICT Technician apprenticeship with LDN.

The role includes maintaining asset records, assisting with onboarding/offboarding, and contributing to IT projects. Benefits include generous leave, helplines, gym access, and discounts.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of computer support and IT basics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to assist colleagues and have a can-do attitude.
• GCSE Maths and English at grade A-C preferred.
• Familiarity with core Microsoft technologies: O365, Exchange, Teams, Windows Server/Desktop.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to internal staff and log/manage IT issues.
• Set up laptops, tablets and desktop computers for staff use.
• Resolve non-complex requests, including application and account access.
• Contribute to project work and support the wider IT team.
• Maintain IT asset records and update knowledge base.

Skills

Basic understanding of computer work
