TeacherActive is recruiting Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants for Bristol and South Gloucestershire specialist SEND schools, starting September 2026. You will work with pupils with complex SEND, using Team Teach/de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

TeacherActive is working with a number of specialist SEND schools across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, who are looking to recruit experienced Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants from September 2026.
These schools support children and young people with a range of complex SEND, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory processing needs and behaviours that challenge.
The schools provide nurturing and supportive environments, with a strong focus on personalised learning, communication, emotional regulation and independence.
As a Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide individual and small-group support to pupils with complex needs.
You will use your Team Teach or de-escalation training to help pupils manage challenging situations safely and positively, while promoting emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour.
You will need to remain calm and consistent during periods of dysregulation, build strong relationships with pupils and understand that behaviour can be a form of communication.
You will support pupils to overcome barriers to learning while encouraging their confidence, independence, communication and life skills.
Team Teach training or recognised de-escalation/positive handling training.
