Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for an Outstanding specialist school in Lewisham. The role starts September 2026 and involves supporting pupils with complex needs, including Autism/ ASD, PMLD and sensory needs, within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

You will work to support learning, communication and personal development, while coordinating with the class teacher and support staff to create a safe, engaging classroom.

Qualifications

• DBS on the Update Service
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with children with SEND
• Experience working with Autism / ASD, PMLD or sensory needs
• A caring, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication skills
• A can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in

Responsibilities

Salary: £90 - £100 per day

The school supports children with complex needs including Autism / ASD, PMLD and sensory needs, and has built a strong reputation for providing a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated SEND TA on a full-time basis from September 2026. The successful SEND TA will be supporting pupils with their learning, communication, personal development and sensory regulation, while working closely with the class teacher and wider support team.

The successful SEND TA will have:

• A DBS on the Update Service
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with children with SEND
• Experience working with Autism / ASD, PMLD or sensory needs
• A caring, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication skills
• A can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in
