As a Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can thrive, ensuring high-quality care and safeguarding, and maximising the life chances of Looked After Children.

If you are keen to make a difference, can think on your feet, adapt to situations as they arise, always do your best, and can inspire others to do the same, join us and start a new journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and Support the Care Team:
    • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of care staff to deliver high-quality care and support.
    • Ensure staff adhere to care plans, policies, and procedures, creating a positive and safe environment for children.
  2. Promote the Wellbeing of Children:
    • Ensure the emotional, social, and physical wellbeing of children by providing tailored support.
    • Work closely with children to build positive relationships, encouraging independence and personal development.
  3. Safeguarding:
    • Take a lead role in safeguarding, ensuring all children are protected and that concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and regulations.
  4. Care Planning and Administration:
    • Oversee the implementation of individual care plans and contribute to reviews, ensuring each child's needs are met.
    • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including health and risk assessments.
  5. Operational Support:
    • Work with the Managers to ensure the smooth running of the home, including rota planning, budgeting, and maintaining the home environment.
    • Assist with staff recruitment, training, and development.
  6. Crisis Management:
    • Provide guidance and support during challenging situations, responding to behavioural incidents and ensuring de-escalation techniques are applied.

What We're Looking For:

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a children's residential home or a care setting.
  • Experience working with children or young people.

Leadership Skills:

  • Strong team management and leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with children, staff, and external agencies.

Knowledge of Regulations:

  • A good understanding of Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and legislation.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to work towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management if not already qualified.

Personal Qualities:

  • Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including shift work, to meet the needs of the home.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: up to £34,963 per annum (including sleep-in allowance).
  • Comprehensive training and development including support to achieve further qualifications.
  • Supportive working environment with a focus on staff wellbeing.
  • Holiday allowance and pension scheme.
