Job summary

Linkit Recruitment in the Midlands is recruiting TEAM LEADERS / DEPUTY MANAGERS to provide operational leadership for a staff team delivering high-acuity support to individuals with complex behavioural needs across 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 staffing.

This role combines hands-on care with shift leadership, supervision, quality assurance and incident management, ensuring safe care plans, PBS plans, risk assessments, DoLS compliance and staff development.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in complex care, learning disability, autism, ABI, mental health or high-risk behavioural services.
• Experience leading 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 packages.
• Experience managing behaviours that challenge and physical aggression.
• De-escalation and crisis prevention experience.
• Experience of PBS plans and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of DoLS and least restrictive practice.
• Strong incident reporting and escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the staff during shifts and allocate deployment within enhanced staffing arrangements.
• Maintain risk oversight and ensure staffing matches individuals' needs.
• Ensure staff understand triggers, warning signs, prevention, escalation.
• Lead responses during significant behavioural incidents.
• Keep de-escalation as first option; interventions only when lawful and necessary.
• Ensure only trained staff perform physical interventions.
• Coordinate responses to aggression, absconding, self-injury, environmental destruction and other high-risk behaviours.
• Escalate emergencies when risks cannot be managed by the care team.
• Conduct shift briefings and handovers.
• Review records and incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Escalate incidents and restrictive interventions appropriately.
• Participate in post-incident reviews to identify learning.
• Monitor staff practice and address unsafe care.
• Support supervision, competency assessments and performance management.
• Identify training needs and development requirements.
• Support PBS strategy and risk assessments reviews.
• Liaise with Deputy Manager, Service Manager, clinical team and external professionals.
• Promote safeguarding, dignity, independence, human rights and least restrictive practice.
• Ensure understanding of DoLS conditions and legal restrictions.
