About Waythrough

Waythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we've created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services - and it's all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job - it's a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the role

This is a service management and team leadership role within Waythrough's supported housing services. You would oversee services supporting adults experiencing mental ill health, helping them maintain their accommodation, develop independence and ultimately move on to independent living. You would be responsible for the day-to-day running and development of the service, ensuring it delivers safe, effective and recovery-focused support in line with Waythrough's policies, service models and contractual requirements.

What you'll do
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the service.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor and support a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, training, performance reviews, supervision and absence.
  • Manage referrals and make sure people meet the service eligibility criteria.
  • Develop support pathways and structured programmes to help people maintain their tenancies.
  • Monitor staff performance, service targets and contractual requirements.
  • Work closely with external agencies including Social Services, Housing, Jobcentre, Probation and mental health services.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and service documentation.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns, complaints, incidents, health and safety and other risks.
  • Provide a small caseload when required to support service delivery.
  • Promote partnership working and opportunities for people using the service to have their voices heard.
  • Deputise for the Area Manager when required.
  • Ensure the service follows relevant legislation, policies and clinical governance requirements.
What we're looking for

They are looking for someone who can lead a team, manage a service and build strong relationships with other organisations. You would need to be organised, confident in managing people and able to ensure the service meets its targets and contractual responsibilities. The role would suit someone who has experience of:

  • Managing or supervising a team.
  • Supporting people with mental health or other support needs.
  • Working with multiple agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Managing referrals and service-user pathways.
  • Monitoring performance, targets and quality standards.
  • Handling safeguarding, risk and service-related issues.
  • Recruiting, training and developing staff or volunteers.
  • Maintaining accurate records and producing reports.
  • Promoting independence, recovery and tenancy sustainment.

In simple terms: this is essentially a team leader/service manager role where you're responsible for making sure the supported housing service runs effectively, the staff are supported and managed, and the people using the service receive the right support to move towards independent living.

We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you'll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package:

  • 27 days' annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year (plus bank holidays)
