Job summary

Education Support Services (ESS) is seeking dedicated Teaching & Learning Mentors to support learners aged 10-25 across Bristol, Somerset and the Southwest. You’ll deliver personalised learning in one-to-one or small-group settings, with flexible hours and a strong emphasis on safeguarding and inclusion.

The role requires a Level 3+ teaching qualification, experience with vulnerable or SEND learners, and Enhanced DBS with Barred List checks.

Qualifications

• UK-recognised teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
• Experience delivering education, training or mentoring to young people.
• Experience with vulnerable, disengaged or SEND learners.
• Knowledge of safeguarding requirements (KCSIE) and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, bespoke education and training to vulnerable and disengaged learners.
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated sessions one-to-one or in small groups.
• Support learners to achieve qualifications, including GCSE-equivalent learning.
• Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Build professional relationships with young people and families.
• Adapt teaching to meet diverse needs and track progress.
• Complete lesson plans, schemes of work and progress reports.
