Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham is actively recruiting Teaching Assistants to support SEND schools across Birmingham. We offer long-term assignments and day-to-day supply for flexible work patterns, with opportunities to work in multiple schools or permanently through our partner settings.

Ideal candidates will have experience with SEND, a patient and adaptable approach, and strong communication to support pupils with diverse needs. DBS checks and safeguarding are part of our vetting process.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND and additional needs.
  • Provide classroom, small-group and 1-2-1 support.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum and engage in learning.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Promote independence, confidence and social development.
  • Work alongside teachers and specialist support staff.
  • Assist pupils to achieve EHCP targets.
  • Adapt approach to meet individual pupil needs.

Teaching Assistants - SEND Schools

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work across Birmingham? The Education Network Birmingham is currently recruiting a number of Teaching Assistants to support a range of excellent SEND schools across the city. We have opportunities available for both long-term assignments and day-to-day supply, giving you the flexibility to choose the type of work that suits you. Whether you're looking for consistent work in one school or prefer the variety of day-to-day supply, we'd love to hear from you.

Our partner schools support children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH, Moderate Learning Difficulties, complex learning needs and physical disabilities. You could be providing classroom support, working with small groups or delivering 1-2-1 support depending on the needs of the pupils. We are looking for Teaching Assistants who are confident, reliable and passionate about working with children with SEND.

The Role
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and additional needs
  • Providing classroom, small-group and 1-2-1 support
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and engage in learning
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Promoting independence, confidence and social development
  • Working alongside teachers and specialist support staff
  • Supporting pupils to achieve their individual learning and EHCP targets
  • Adapting your approach to meet the needs of individual pupils
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND - essential
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • A patient, calm and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • The ability to work confidently as part of a school team
  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent - highly desirable
  • Experience supporting Autism, SEMH, MLD or complex needs would be advantageous
