Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Bromley. You will support pupils aged 7-19 in a small KS2 class, assisting with communication difficulties and a range of SEND. Makaton/PECS experience is highly desirable.

Hours are 8:30am-4:00pm, term-time only, with a full-time, temp-to-perm contract and daily pay from £92.63. This is an exciting chance to work alongside an experienced SEND Teacher in a well-resourced environment.

For pupils aged 7-19, this well-resourced school has an excellent reputation providing high-quality support and education for children and young people with additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced SEND Teacher within a small Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils with communication difficulties, autism, and a range of special educational needs. The role would suit a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. Experience using Makaton and/or PECS is highly desirable, as you will be supporting pupils with limited verbal communication.

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, Autism (ASD), speech and language needs, or complex learning needs.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or alternative communication methods.
• Experience supporting pupils in a school, special school, care, or support setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEND, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Education qualifications are desirable.
