Job summary

Job description

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities, providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils achieve their full potential and progress through their education.

Who are we looking for?
  • Have experience working in an educational setting, whether in mainstream schools, specialist provisions, or alternative provisions.
  • Have experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including those who may present with additional behavioural, communication, or learning needs.
  • Be confident, caring, patient, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting individual learning and development.

Working in this setting requires patience, empathy, and adaptability, as pupils may have a range of additional needs requiring personalised support throughout the school day.

You will:
  • Encourage and motivate pupils through regular praise and positive reinforcement, helping to build their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Assist pupils in developing their academic abilities while also supporting their social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour by applying effective behaviour management techniques that foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver tailored support plans that meet the individual needs of each pupil.

What we need from you:
  • Two professional references.
  • A valid Right-to-work in the UK (we can not sponsor Visas for this role)
  • A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one (assistance available).
  • Team Teach Positive Behaviour Management training is desirable but not essential.

Rate of pay is dependent on current grade, experience, and payroll method.
