Job summary

Academic Appointments Ltd. is recruiting for a Supply Teaching role in the Wakefield area, offering 1:1 and small-group support to children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Qualifications

  • Two professional references.
  • A valid right-to-work in the UK (We can not sponsor Visas for this role)
  • A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one with us.
  • Team Teach Positive, MAPA or equivalent Behaviour Management training is desirable but not essential.

  • Encourage pupils through regular praise and positive reinforcement, helping to develop their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Provide tailored support to promote pupils' academic achievement, as well as their social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Apply effective behaviour management techniques to foster positive behaviours and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals, and wider school staff to deliver individual support plans that address each pupil's unique needs and enable them to achieve their potential.

Job description

Join a dedicated team supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within schools in the Wakefield Area. Providing personalised 1:1 and small-group support, you'll play a key role in promoting emotional wellbeing, encouraging positive behaviour, and helping pupils build the confidence and skills they need to succeed both academically and personally.

Who are we looking for?

A successful candidate would:

  • Have experience working in an educational setting, whether in mainstream schools, specialist provisions, or alternative provisions.
  • Have experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including those who may present with additional behavioural, communication, or learning needs.
  • Be confident, caring, patient, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting individual learning and development.
