Job summary

New Directions Education in Bradford is seeking Medical Needs Teaching Assistants to support learners across Primary SEND settings. The role is suitable for individuals who are passionate about helping young people with complex and medical needs to thrive in and out of the classroom.

As a Medical Needs Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist in developing and delivering individual education, health and care plans, lead sensory and creative sessions, and build

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with medical or complex health needs.
  • Confident in assisting with personal care and following individual healthcare plans.
  • Knowledgeable in trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic behaviour support.
  • Team-Teach trained is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of SEND needs, including Autism, speech, language and communication needs, and SEMH.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with medical and additional needs.
  • Assist in development and delivery of individual education, health and care plans.
  • Deliver sensory and creative classroom sessions.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students, families and staff teams.
  • Ensure safety, dignity and wellbeing of every learner under your care.

Job description

New Directions Education are recruiting a pool of compassionate, skilled and dedicated Medical Needs Teaching Assistants to support learners across a range of Primary SEND settings in Bradford. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people with complex and medical needs to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Experienced in supporting pupils with medical or complex health needs.
  • Confident in assisting with personal care and following individual healthcare plans.
  • Knowledgeable in trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic behaviour support.
  • Team-Teach trained is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
