Job summary

St Sebastian’s CE Primary is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support learning across a mainstream class, delivering targeted interventions and helping pupils with a range of needs. You’ll work as part of a caring team, upholding Christian values and maintaining excellent pupil wellbeing.

The post is 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, with a part-time option considered and a closing date of 6 October 2026. DBS clearance and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working in mainstream or special schools.
• Experience delivering phonics interventions.
• Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disability.
• Empathic and nurturing nature.
• Enthusiastic, committed and professional.
• Can use initiative and works well as part of a team.
• Strong knowledge of supporting children with behavioural challenges.

Responsibilities

• Support the learning of all pupils within a mainstream classroom using a hover approach.
• Provide targeted intervention support to individual pupils or small groups.
• Assist with behaviour management and safeguarding in line with policies.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
