September Start

Looking for a teaching role where you can make a real difference?

In SEND education, the biggest wins aren't always the loudest. Sometimes it's helping a pupil feel safe enough to walk into the classroom. Sometimes it's seeing a child try something they never thought they could.

Those moments matter.

We're looking for caring, adaptable SEND Teachers to work in specialist schools and alternative provisions across Wakefield. You'll support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them grow in confidence as well as in the classroom.

If you enjoy building strong relationships and believe every child deserves the chance to succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

No two days are the same, but you can expect to:

  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet individual learning needs
  • Adapt teaching for pupils with ASD, SEMH, PMLD and other complex needs
  • Build positive relationships where trust comes first
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists and wider school teams
  • Create calm, structured classrooms where pupils can thrive
  • Support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing

Every child learns differently. Your job is to help them find their way.

Why choose SEND?

Many teachers move into SEND because it reminds them why they became teachers in the first place.

You'll have the chance to:

  • Work in specialist schools, SEND settings, PRUs and alternative provisions
  • Join supportive teams who understand the rewards and challenges of SEND
  • Access long-term and permanent opportunities
  • Make a genuine difference to pupils every single day
We'd love to hear from you if you:
  • Stay calm when plans need to change
  • Know that strong relationships are the foundation of learning
  • Bring patience, resilience and empathy to your classroom
  • Want every child to feel valued, supported and successful
What you'll need
  • QTS, QTLS or strong SEND teaching experience
  • Experience in SEND, SEMH, SEN or specialist education is desirable
  • Confidence adapting lessons to suit a range of needs
  • A calm, compassionate and flexible approach
Why Protocol Education?
  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • Free CPD, including SEND and behaviour training
  • A dedicated consultant who gets to know you and your career goals
  • Flexible work that fits around your preferences
  • Opportunities in fantastic specialist schools across Wakefield
