Job summary

TeacherActive are recruiting a calm SEMH Teaching Assistant for a long‑term role at a PRU in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. You will support students with SEMH, Autism and challenging behaviour, 1:1 and in small groups, helping them re‑engage with education.

The successful candidate will build trust, work with teachers and behaviour leads on individual support plans, and help learners progress academically and personally.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Experience in PRU/Alternative Provision or SEND setting is desirable.
  • Patient, empathetic and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

Are you a calm, resilient and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can truly make a difference? TeacherActive are proud to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester that supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), Autism and challenging behaviour.

Your Role
  • Support students with SEMH, Autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small‑group basis.
  • Build trust, provide emotional support and help learners re‑engage with education.
  • Work closely with teachers, mentors and behaviour leads to implement individual support plans.
  • Encourage personal growth, resilience and positive choices.
We’re Looking For
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Experience within a PRU, Alternative Provision or SEND setting is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
  • A passion for helping students achieve their full potential – academically and personally.
