Job summary

Milk Education are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the SEN team at a welcoming secondary school in Leeds. You will provide support both in the classroom and across the wider school, helping students access learning and feel included.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, working with students with ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and SEMH to promote confidence and independence. A calm, patient approach is valued.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Experience in a school, SEN, pastoral, youth work or similar setting
  • Understanding of ASC, ADHD or SEMH
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
  • Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • Previous secondary school experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to students with a range of SEN and additional needs
  • Support students within mainstream classroom settings
  • Work alongside teachers to help students access the curriculum
  • Provide appropriate 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Encourage students' confidence, independence and engagement
  • Support positive behaviour and help students regulate their emotions
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Work closely with the SEN team and teaching staff
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN
Location: Leeds
Job Type: Full-time, Long-term & Day-to-Day Opportunities
Hours: 8:30am - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

Milk Education are currently recruiting for dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join the SEN team at a welcoming secondary school in Leeds.

The school has a well-established SEN department and supports students with a wide range of additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH, visual impairment and hearing impairment.

The successful candidate will provide support both within the classroom and across the wider school, helping students to access learning, develop their independence and feel confident and included in school life.

The Role
  • Provide support to students with a range of SEN and additional needs

  • Support students within mainstream classroom settings
