Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start in Wakefield to support primary pupils with additional needs. You will work 1:1 or in small groups to help with confidence, engagement and emotional regulation, under the guidance of teachers and the SENCo.

You will contribute to routines, behaviour support and social interaction, creating a safe, nurturing environment. A patient, empathetic approach and genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in school, youth work, SEN, care, tutoring, or sports coaching.
  • Patience, calmness and resilience.
  • Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Degree in Psychology, Education, or related field desirable; but no formal TA qualifications are required.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, learning delays).

Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 08:30-15:30 |

Milk Education is working with supportive primary schools across Leeds who are now recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for September starts. If you're patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping young people with additional needs thrive, this is the ideal role for you.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, learning delays)
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to build confidence, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Help pupils manage routines, behaviour, and social interaction

What We're Looking For

You’ll be a great fit if you have:
