Job summary

Prospero Teaching is looking for passionate, proactive Teaching Assistants to support learners in a SEN School in Newcastle. This full-time role starts ASAP and runs until the end of the academic year in July 2027. You will help pupils progress and develop, building strong relationships in a supportive school community.

The role involves working with pupils aged 2–19 with ASD, ADHD, and other needs, including some personal care and non-verbal pupils. Collaboration with Teachers is essential.

Qualifications

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desi red)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Resilient, proactive and positive nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Have an enhanced child DBS certificate or willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay – Between GBP93-115 per day

About the Role:

• The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.


• The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH


• Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.


• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)


• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK


• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.

• Hold Right to Work in the UK


• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application


• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
