Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an inspirational and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant for a SEN School in Amble, Northumberland. The role is full-time, starting ASAP and running until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027.

You will support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour both 1:1 and in small groups, adapting to different needs. The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification (desirable), UK work rights, and a DBS check or willingness to obtain one, plus two

• A Teaching/Childcare qualification is preferred.
• Experience of working with Children in UK schools is required.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

About the Role:

• The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH
• Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.
• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
