Job description

We are a nurturing and inclusive primary school committed to enabling all children to flourish. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team and provide tailored support for a pupil in Year 3.

This role will primarily involve 1:1 support, alongside some small group work both within and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will help pupils access learning effectively and develop socially, emotionally and academically.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide personalised support for a pupil with additional needs.
  • Use co-regulation strategies during lessons and unstructured times.
  • Build positive, respectful and supportive relationships with children.
  • Support pupils to engage positively with learning and school life.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to deliver effective provision.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, wellbeing and achievement.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about helping every child reach their potential.
  • Experienced in working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Knowledgeable about Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • An advocate for children with additional needs and committed to their success.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive, friendly and approachable.
  • A strong role model for learning and behaviour.

Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is desirable.

Particular skills or experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum

A good standard of education is essential, and experience working within a primary school setting is preferred. Appropriate training and ongoing professional development opportunities will be provided.

Contract Details

Start Date: ongoing
Hours: 8.30 to 15.30, Monday to Friday (30 min break)
Contract Type: Flexible, subject to funding

Recruitment Requirements

References: We require 24 months of references, including from any childcare based roles and your most recent employer

DBS: We require an Enhanced Child only DBS that is on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
