Job summary

Classroom Support are currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Greenwich. You will provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs and help them access the curriculum, supporting progress in learning.

The ideal candidate is patient, caring and resilient with experience in SEND settings, and a good understanding of ASD/ADHD and behaviour management. DBS checks and right to work in the UK are required.

Job description

Classroom Support are currently working with a primary school seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The role will also involve supporting lower-attaining children in accessing the curriculum and making progress in their learning.

They are looking for someone who is patient, caring, resilient, and committed to helping every child achieve their potential. Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Support low-attaining children to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through consistent support and intervention.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEND staff to implement individual support strategies and monitor progress.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Patient, caring, and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Good understanding of ASD, ADHD, and behaviour management approaches.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Relevant professional references.
  • Previous SEND experience is desirable but not essential.
