Job summary

Our Lady and St Swithin’s Catholic Primary School in Liverpool is seeking a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to support pupils, including those with special educational needs, under teacher guidance. The role includes personal care support, classroom assistance, and administrative tasks.

You will work with a dedicated team, participate in planned programmes, and complete the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship with Realise as the training provider.

Qualifications

• Qualified to support pupils with special educational needs as part of a school team.
• Completing induction and training to support learning and welfare.
• Capable of assisting with personal care and welfare as required.
• Ability to follow teacher plans and adapt to pupil needs.
• Willingness to undertake first aid and safeguarding-related training.
• Demonstrates professionalism and high expectations for learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and carers.
• Works well with colleagues to implement programmes effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils and support learning activities, including SEND pupils.
• Assist with personal care, welfare, health, hygiene and mobility needs.
• Model positive behavior and encourage pupil interaction.
• Support development and implementation of IEP/Behaviour Plans.
• Provide feedback on progress under teacher direction.
• Assist with equipment and moving and handling as needed.
• Maintain orderly, supportive classroom environment per lesson plans.
• Assist with displaying pupil work and promoting positive conduct.
• Provide clerical support as required and help with marking.
• Liaise with parents/carers and participate in planning for SEN support.
