Job summary

Springwood Heath Primary School, Liverpool, is offering an Apprenticeship for an Additional Needs Support Assistant to work with pupils with SEND, including severe learning difficulties and autism. You will support the class teacher and staff to provide an inclusive learning environment and tailored pupil support.

The 16-month apprenticeship runs Monday to Friday, 32 hours per week, with £8 per hour in the first 12 months and then National Minimum Wage.

Qualifications

Five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
Desirable but not essential: experience working with children.
Commitment to flexible, learner-centred support.
Enhanced DBS check may be required due to working with children.

Responsibilities

Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation while supporting delivery of teaching programmes.
Assist in lessons and interact effectively with teachers and pupils.
Adapt learning activities according to pupil needs and progress.
Support ICT use in learning and help pupils grow in confidence with technology.
Provide individual and group support by explaining tasks and sustaining engagement.
Deliver short whole-class sessions such as reading activities.
Encourage communication and participation through role play and interactive tasks.
Promote inclusion, teamwork and positive relationships among pupils.
Foster independence, confidence and self-esteem in pupils.
Assist staff with planning, delivering and evaluating lessons and resources.
