Pathway Academy Zone in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a confident Teaching Assistant to support learners who may face barriers within mainstream education. This flexible role focuses on helping young people re-engage, build confidence and make positive progress.

You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide practical, individualized support to learners, including those with SEND or SEMH, in an Alternative Provision environment. The role emphasizes engagement and progress.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Alternative Provision.
  • Experience with SEND or SEMH.
  • Experience in schools or colleges.
  • Youth work experience.
  • Behaviour support.
  • Mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting tutors during lessons and learning activities.
  • Helping learners remain engaged, focused and motivated.
  • Supporting young people with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Supporting learners to build confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and a positive learning environment.
  • Monitoring learner progress and escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Building strong professional relationships with learners, colleagues and other professionals.

Pathway Academy Zone is looking for a confident, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to support young people at our Alternative Provision centre in Stoke-on-Trent.

This is a flexible opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may have experienced barriers within mainstream education and need additional support to re-engage, build confidence and make positive progress.

The Role
