Job summary

Hanham Woods Academy in Bristol is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team for the new academic year. This role is 24 hours per week, term time only plus insets, with a permanent contract. You will work under teaching staff to provide educational, personal and social development support, helping students access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Training and development will be provided. We offer induction and ongoing professional development, the Teachers’ Pension Scheme,

Job Title:Teaching Assistant - Level 1

Actual Annual Salary:£14,884 - £16,226 Based on 24 hours per week, term time only plus insets

Full Time Equivalent Salary:£26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on full-time hours, all year round.

Contract Type:Permanent

Hours:24 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only plus Insets. Less hours or a job share will also be considered for the right candidate. Please state on your application form the hours/days you are able to commit it.

Hanham Woods Academy is seeking to appoint four Teaching Assistants to join our team at the start of the new academic year.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people. Successful candidates will support the delivery of high-quality educational experiences, both within and beyond the classroom, while championing the life chances and aspirations of every student within our academy.

Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you will provide educational, personal, and social development support to students. By using appropriate strategies and interventions, you will help learners access the curriculum, engage positively with their education, and achieve their full potential. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the academy and receive comprehensive training and ongoing professional development to support your growth in the role.

About you:

You will:

• have an understanding ofclassroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
• be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.
• be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.
• have strong interpersonal skills,in particular withthe ability todemonstrateempathy and active listening.
• have good planning and organisational skills, specificallywith regard tolearning activities and support materials.
• be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.

Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary school located within the outskirts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, delivering education to pupils aged 11-16. Our Resource Base is a specialist provision located alongside our mainstream school designed to support students with specific educational needs and disabilities.

It enables students to access mainstream education while benefiting from targeted specialist support.

Key features include:

• Inclusion: Students access mainstream education alongside peers
• Specialist support: Higher staff-to-student ratios and expertise such as speech and language therapy
• Targeted intervention: Small group or 1:1 support for complex needs such as Autism, ADHD Speech & language disorders and sensory needs
• Flexible curriculum: Where pupils divide their time between a quiet, calm space in the Resource Base and the busier mainstream classes.
