Job summary

Tewkesbury Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant – Level 1 to support pupils across a single form entry school in Gloucestershire. The role involves delivering planned activities, aiding access to the curriculum, and promoting pupil well‑being. You will adapt tasks to learners and collaborate with staff to raise attainment.

The post is permanent, 32 hours per week, term time plus inset days, with a start date around early November. Commitment to inclusion is essential.

Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Level 1

Actual Annual Salary:£19,846 - £21,630 (Based on hours and week worked)

Full Time Equivalent Salary:£26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type:Permanent

Hours:32 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only plus Inset days

Working Pattern: 6.5 hours on Monday through Thursday, and 6 hours on Friday.

Potential Start Date: 9 November 2026 (Subject to completion of pre-employment checks)

Support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques to enable them to access the curriculum, engage with their learning and achieve their full potential. Takes responsibility for implementing planned learning activities/ teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to students’ responses as appropriate. • Be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. Relevant nvq level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.

• Have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.
• Have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.
