Job summary

Lime Hills Academy is seeking Level 1 Teaching Assistants to support the educational, personal and social development of students under guidance. The role focuses on helping pupils access the curriculum, engage with learning, and reach their potential, with SEMH experience preferred.

It's a term-time position with 35 hours per week, 8:30am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday, plus INSET days. Ongoing training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
• First aid qualification to support pupil safety and wellbeing.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is desirable.
• Understanding of classroom roles and how TAs support learning.

Responsibilities

Actual Annual Salary: £21,706- £23,658 Based on hours and working weeks – 35 hours per week

Full-Time Equivalent Salary: £26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on Full Time hours, All year round.

Hours: Part-Time, 35 hours per week Term Time Only (plus INSET days)

Additional role info: Working Pattern - Monday to Friday – 8.30am - 4.00pm (30 mins lunch break)

We are looking for passionate and driven Level 1 Teaching Assistants to assist in the educational, personal, and social development of students under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues at Lime Hills Academy. You will support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques to enable them to access the curriculum, engage with their learning, and achieve their full potential and ideally have experience of working/supporting pupils with SEMH needs

We are seeking individuals who are committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people, both within and beyond the classroom. You will take responsibility for implementing planned learning activities and teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to children’s responses as appropriate. Working collaboratively with a wide range of academy staff at all levels, you will help deliver excellent educational experiences and champion the life chances of all children in our academy.

Through ongoing training and development, you will be fully supported in your role. This is a term-time-only position, ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting children, and is eager to grow within a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.

About you:

You will:

• have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities, and how a Teaching Assistant supports students in their learning and development.
• be able to engage students and manage behaviour effectively on a one-to-one or small group basis, using appropriate strategies tailored to individual learning needs.
• be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.
• demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to show empathy and actively listen when working with students who may require additional support.
• have good planning and organisational skills, especially in preparing and adapting learning activities and support materials to meet the diverse needs learners.
• be someone with a genuine interest in working with children and young people, and a strong commitment to inclusion and the acceptance of all learners, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds.

About Lime Hills Academy:

Lime Hills Academy is a special school for young people in years 5 - 11 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH needs. We will be moving into our new build in Churchill over the next few months. As a temporary arrangement we have been supported by the DfE and CLF to deliver our provision across two sites: a secondary site in Weston and a primary site in Nailsea.

At our core, is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at Post 16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, and PSHE.This is enriched through outdoor learning, benevolent childhood experiences, arts, topic based learning and specific interventions
