Job summary

Broadoak Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to support students to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will work with teachers to deliver learning activities and provide targeted support for individuals and small groups.

37 hours per week, term time only plus inset days. Permanent contract with a start date of 16 November 2026. The academy offers a supportive team and a focus on pupil wellbeing and progress.

Job Title:Teaching Assistant - Level 1

Actual Annual Salary:£22,947 - £25,010 Based on hours and week worked

Full Time Equivalent Salary:£26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type:Permanent

Hours:37 hours per week, Term Time Only plus Inset days

An opportunity to make a real difference to students’ learning, confidence and well-being as part of the supportive team at Broadoak Academy.

As a Teaching Assistant Level 1, you will support students to access the curriculum, engage positively with their learning and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teachers and other colleagues, you will use appropriate strategies and techniques to provide effective support to individuals and small groups.

You will help to deliver planned learning activities and teaching programmes under the direction of the teacher, adapting your support in response to students’ individual needs. Through building positive relationships and providing consistent encouragement, you will play an important part in supporting students’ academic progress, engagement, and social and emotional well-being.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the academy, contributing to an inclusive and positive learning environment where every student is encouraged and supported to succeed.

• Have good organisational skills and be able to support the preparation and delivery of learning activities and resources.
• Be reflective, resilient and committed to your own professional development, responding positively to feedback and opportunities to learn.
• Be willing to undertake relevant training and qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, First Aid, or equivalent professional development.
• Be committed to contributing to the wider success of Broadoak Academy and its community.
