Job summary

Norton College in Tewkesbury is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support learners aged 11–19 with SEMH needs and diverse learning requirements. This role focuses on building confidence, removing barriers and enabling pupils to thrive alongside a specialist team.

You will work closely with teachers and families to meet individual pupil needs, promote inclusive learning, and support emotional wellbeing in a busy secondary setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Able to work as part of a team and adapt to needs.
  • Strong communication skills with pupils, families and staff.
  • Commitment to helping pupils develop academically, emotionally and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons, 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Encourage engagement and help each student achieve goals.
  • Foster confidence, independence and positive behaviours.
  • Build trusted relationships to help students feel safe.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families and professionals to meet needs.
  • Support students' emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
