Job summary

Bankside College, a new venture near Hanley Castle, Worcester, in partnership with Outcomes First Group and Options Autism, seeks a Learning Support Mentor to deliver person-centred education for learners aged 16 to 24 with autism and complex needs.

You will support teachers to access curriculum, provide 1:1 and group assistance, help create a safe learning environment, maintain records and contribute to student plans, while upholding safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Driving licence required.
• Experience in SEN, autism support or education is beneficial, but attitude and willingness to learn matter most.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers/tutors to deliver high-quality education and ensure safeguarding standards are followed.
• Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to help students access the curriculum and develop independence.
• Assist in creating a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment and organise resources and spaces.
• Contribute to student documentation (BSPs, Risk Assessments, IEPs, EHCPs, Communication Profiles, Pastoral Plans).
• Support students' personal care, feeding and emotional needs, and help manage challenging behaviour with positive approaches.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, care staff and families to ensure consistency in education and wellbeing.
• Maintain records in line with company and regulatory requirements and stay up-to-date with relevant practice.
• Work with the multi-professional team and contribute to wider college development.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, care staff and families to ensure a consistent approach to education, wellbeing and daily support.
• Maintain accurate records in line with company and regulatory requirements, and stay up-to-date with relevant educational and autism-related practice.
• Work collaboratively within the multi-professional team and contribute to wider college development and improvement initiatives.

Bankside College is an exciting new venture near Hanley Castle, Worcester. Working in partnership with the Outcomes First Group and Options Autism, the College will provide a Further Education experience for those aged 16 to 24 year-olds with autism, complex needs and learning disabilities. The main aim of the College is to help its students prepare for adulthood and their next stage in life. In a new purpose-built building, situated in acres of natural beauty, Bankside College will provide a varied, individualised curriculum to enable its students to gain vocational and independence skills to help them achieve their aspirations. Our staff will work together as a cohesive team, to provide the very best experience for the students which will include practical activities, Maths, English and Digital Literacy. The curriculum will have a focus on individual targets, personal skills and enrichment which will include The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Some students will also take part in supported work experience, social enterprise programmes, and volunteering. For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are pioneering innovative, evidence-based approaches that deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes for everyone in our care.
