  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
  • Support personal care and wellbeing requirements where necessary.

Teaching Assistant- Full time

Location: Saltash, Cornwall
Start Date:21stSeptember
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full time

We are currently looking for a caring and compassionate teaching assistant with experience delivering high-quality teaching, available in the Saltash and greater Cornwall area, supporting schools within the St Barnabas Trust. You'll be working 1-1 and in small groups, utilising different strategies to help engage and encourage students with a range of needs and ability levels. This job would be best suited to someone committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables all pupils to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Teaching assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN to help them access the curriculum.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
  • Support personal care and wellbeing requirements where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Teaching assistant who:

  • Has experience working in schools.
  • Has a clear understanding of Safeguarding and keeping children safe in education.
  • Is adaptable and comfortable working with different year groups, in different primary schools across the Cornwall area.
  • Differentiate strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those with SEND needs.
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable and committed to providing high-quality learning experiences.
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with children aged 11-18
Working Hours
Weekdays 8:30am - 3:30pm
