Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Plymouth is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to support learning and student wellbeing in a vibrant school. You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping students engage with lessons and build confidence.

The role requires a passion for education, strong communication, and commitment to inclusion; training and DBS can be provided, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in UK schools is required.
  • QTS / QTLS / PGCE / EYTS / NVQ / CACHE or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Safeguarding training completed or willing to complete training within the role.

Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, parents and colleagues.
  • Assist with classroom activities and support the delivery of lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Support the wellbeing and personal development of students.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and work as part of a dedicated team.

Make a difference as a Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistants needed Plymouth!

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting students to achieve their full potential. Working within a supportive and inclusive school environment, you will help students engage with their learning, build confidence, and develop both academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning experience and ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.

Training and Qualifications
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYTS, NVQ, Cache or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a UK school
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as training for this can be provided)
To Be Eligible, You Must
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional, child-related references
