Job description

  • Flexible and happy to get involved in both indoor and outdoor learning
  • Able to build strong and positive relationships with students

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) are required.

At Mountfield Heath School, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team and make a positive difference to students with additional and complex needs.

This is much more than helping in the classroom. You'll build trusted relationships with students, support them through challenges and encourage them to develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed. One day you might be providing individual support during a lesson, the next getting involved in practical activities, outdoor learning or helping a student manage a difficult moment. Every day brings something different, but each one offers the opportunity to see the impact your support can have. Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and other professionals, you'll be part of a team that celebrates progress in all its forms and creates an environment where students feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping students engage with learning and work towards their individual goals
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued and confident
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver creative, engaging and personalised learning activities
  • Support students' emotional, social and physical development using patient and positive approaches
  • Encourage greater confidence, independence, communication and resilience
  • Get involved in classroom learning, practical activities and outdoor learning experiences
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider team to provide consistent support around each student
  • Help create a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment where every achievement is recognised, At Mountfield Heath School, every day brings new challenges, opportunities, and rewards. Every member of our team plays a crucial role in shaping brighter futures for our pupils.

We support autistic boys and girls aged 5-11, many of whom have additional needs. Our independent special educational needs provision currently educates 45 pupils, across a spacious site with large classrooms and dedicated outdoor learning areas. Our mission is simple: to equip every child with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We aim to prepare pupils not only for school but for life beyond, encouraging them to achieve high standards in all areas of development. Located in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, the school is easily accessible from Hastings, Royal Tunbridge Wells, and surrounding areas, making this an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking school community.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity. We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a 'Great Place to Work' for the sixth year running.

We place students and vulnerable young adults at the heart of everything we do, so every day brings the satisfaction of making a real difference. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.
