Job summary

Oakham Shires School is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism and complex needs. You’ll work 1:1 and in small groups, helping learners engage with learning activities and build confidence.

This permanent, term-time role starts October 2026, with 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at Oakham Shires School, Rutland. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4+ and a Full UK Driving Licence are preferred, and full safeguarding checks apply.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience supporting autistic children or young people and/or those with complex needs or behaviours.
• Previous experience within a school, education, care, youth work or similar environment.

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.
• Support teachers in delivering creative, engaging and personalised learning activities.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
