Job summary

Outcomes First Group's Heath Farm College in Maidstone is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH in a post-16 specialist college. You will work closely with teachers, curriculum leads and a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, inclusive environment where every student can succeed.

You will deliver tailored academic and pastoral support across subjects, promote resilience and self-regulation, and assist with EHCP provisions. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Job description

As a Teaching Assistant at Heath Farm College, working closely with teachers, curriculum leads and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported and able to succeed.,

  • Supporting students across a range of curriculum subjects and vocational pathways.
  • Delivering tailored academic and pastoral support to meet individual needs.
  • Promoting student engagement, independence, resilience and self-regulation.
  • Supporting the implementation of EHCP provisions and personalised learning goals.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage success and wellbeing.
  • Using trauma-informed and relational approaches to support behaviour and emotional development.
  • Supporting students during periods of dysregulation through positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies.
  • Contributing to reward systems that celebrate achievement, progress and positive behaviour.
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to progress, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding.
  • Working collaboratively with families, external professionals and multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes for students.

    We are an independent specialist sixth form college that caters for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. We offer a unique and stimulating environment where every student is able to make outstanding progress in their personal development and enjoy success in their education. Heath Farm College is situated in Maidstone and has capacity to support up to 58 students. The provision facilitates a professional post 16 provision for students with EHCPs who are not ready for a large FE college or large school/academy 6th Form provision. At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
