Job summary

Retford Oaks Academy invites applications for a Teaching Assistant. Working under staff guidance, you will implement planned activities for individuals or groups and help with resource preparation. The role focuses on helping pupils access holistic development inside and outside the classroom.

The post requires GCSE English and Maths at C or above, an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and experience with young people and SEND. Term-time hours apply with a 30-hour week.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent with knowledge of the curriculum.
  • Experience with young people and with SEND/EDS needs.

Responsibilities

Actual salary: £18,299.77
Contract: Permanent, Term time only, 30 hours per week
Working hours: 8.45am-3.15pm Monday-Friday

The opportunity

To work under the guidance of teaching staff/Inclusion/ SENDCo, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. The primary focus is to ensure that pupils have access to holistic development.

Essential

GCSE English and Maths at C (or above) Grade (or equivalent)

NVQ level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience together with a working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.

Relevant and recent experience of working with young people

Experience of working with young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities

Desirable

Working at or towards the professional standards for higher level teaching assistants

Relevant information, communication and technology qualification e.g. ECDL etc.

Experience of supporting young people with improving literacy and numeracy skills as well as development social skills.
